Nestled between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Small Business Saturday is an after-Thanksgiving shopping day that encourages consumers to support local businesses. Small Business Saturday is a national celebration of small businesses, and there are many opportunities across Louisiana to get involved on November 26, 2016.
The following are few options that LCIA has come across, and there are more out there. Whether you are a retailer who can use Small Business Saturday campaigns to increase business or a consumer looking to shop local, we encourage you to get out in your community on Saturday.
LSBDC’s Selfie Challenge
The Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) recently announced its annual Small Business Saturday "Selfie Challenge” initiative to promote Louisiana small businesses. The LSBDC encourages you to take "selfie” pictures at local businesses while you’re out shopping. When you post the selfies to social media, use the hashtags #ShopSmall and #LSBDC, and be sure to tag the store in the post.
The LSBDC is a network serving seven markets that cover the entire state. Each market has a unique hashtag that the LSBDC encourages the community to adopt in support of the initiative. The recommended hashtags are as follows:
- #ShopNELA – Northeast Louisiana
- #ShopNWCR – Northwest and Central Louisiana
- #ShopSWLA – Southwest Louisiana
- #ShopAcadiana – Lafayette area
- #ShopBR – Baton Rouge area
- #ShopNorthshore – St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Livingston, Washington, St. Helena parishes
- #ShopNOLA – Greater New Orleans and Bayou Region
