  • According to Louisiana Economic Development (LED), Southern Business & Development Magazine ranked Louisiana No. 1 for the ninth consecutive year. The ranking is based on the most economic development project wins per capita. Lake Charles also earned the magazine’s designation as the Small Market of the Year.   • A recent article in The Advocate outlines a new "milled rice import agreement” between the United States and China. The article explains that the agreement provides opportunities for Louisiana mills and farms. Read the article on The Advocate’s website.

Baton Rouge

  • On Thursday, July 27, the Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) is hosting a Veteran-Owned Small Business Conference. Veteran-owned businesses from across the state will learn about procurement opportunities and certifications, and have opportunities to network with purchasing agents.   • On Wednesday, July 26, the Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) is hosting a "Cyber Threat Awareness for Business” class in Covington. The class will go over various online threats and how to protect your business from them. Click here to register.
  • The Manufacturing Extension Partnership of Louisiana (MEPOL) is hosting a lunch & learn, "Expect the Unexpected: A Tale of Cybersecurity” on Thursday, June 27, in New Orleans. Click here for more information.
  • The Urban League of Louisiana is hosting, "Intermediate QuickBooks and Costing Training for Contractors,” on Thursday, July 27. Click here to register.
  • This Thursday, June 27, StayLocal is hosting its "Know-It-All Trivia Night & Biz Showcase.” Local businesses will have tables with information about B2B services they offer, and the trivia contest will focus on the impact of local businesses on the local economy.
