"Around Louisiana” is a new weekly blog post that provides business news from across Louisiana. Every Monday, we share news and events from different corners of the state.

Baton Rouge:

Greater New Orleans:

  • Palmisano Contractors is seeking SLDBE, LAUCP DBE, and locally-owned business participation for 338 Baronne Street. The bid date is Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Please contact for more information.
  • A recent article in New Orleans CityBusiness featured a partnership between GE Digital and the University of New Orleans. This program is an example of hands-on workforce training that benefits both employers and employees.


  • One Acadiana’s "Building the Region” conference is Thursday, January 12 and Friday, January 13. The "traveling conference” features a bus tour through Acadia, Jeff Davis, and St. Martin parishes. Acadia, Jeff Davis, and St. Martin parishes to examine each parish is shaping the regional economy. the event is sold out, there is a waiting list.

North Louisiana:

  • Biz. Magazine published a feature, "Explaining LSU Health [Shreveport]’s $2.9B impact.” The article explains how the teaching hospital, along with alumni practicing in the region, make a large economic impact in the region.
  • The North Louisiana Agri-Business Council is hosting its annual AG EXPO this Friday and Saturday, January 13 and 14 in West Monroe. The event features a trade show, livestock shows, and educational seminars.
