  • The SBA is hosting an informational webinar on Wednesday, April 26 about the InnovateHER Challenge. The The annual SBA InnovateHER Challenge is a cross-cutting prize competition to unearth innovative products and services that help impact and empower the lives of women and families.   • Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards declared a State of Emergency for Louisiana’s coast last week. According to an article in The Advocate, Governor Edwards stated that says "immediate and urgent action” is needed. Read the Advocate article here.


  • On Thursday, April 27, the Professional Insurance Agents of Louisiana’s Acadiana Chapter is hosting its annual crawfish boil in Lafayette. More than 1200 insurance industry professionals are expected to attend, including representatives from LCI Workers’ Comp’s Marketing Department. Learn more on PIA’s website.

Baton Rouge

  • On April 25, LCIA is hosting its Coffee Chat with the Downtown Business Association. Attendees will learn about development and potential business opportunities downtown. The event will consist of an informal discussion, networking, and an optional walking tour. Click here to register.

  • The Ascension Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Annual Spring Fling on Wednesday, April 26 on the patio at Mike Anderson's in Gonzales. It’s open to all Chamber members. Click here for more information.

Greater New Orleans:

  • On Wednesday, April 26, StayLocal is holding an event, "Hate Has No Place Here: Creating a Welcoming Environment in Your Business.” During this panel discussion, New Orleans businesses will acquire the tools to create a welcoming environment in their business and community.   • The New Orleans Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Meet & Greet with President and CEO of the Port of New Orleans on Wednesday, April 26. Brandy Christian, the Port’s President & CEO will give a presentation entitled, "Port of New Orleans: Diversity Fosters Growth." More information is available on the Chamber’s website.

North Louisiana

  • The Northwest Louisiana Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is hosting its April 2017 Chapter Meeting on Wednesday, April 26. The breakfast meeting will feature a presentation by Mechelle Broussard about the Incumbent Worker Training Program. Click here to register.
