  • Small Business Administration (SBA) announced its lineup of webinars for this year’s National Small Business Week. The webinars are all free. View the lineup here.
  • On Tuesday, April 18, the Baton Rouge Downtown Business Association (DBA) will join LCIA for our Tune In webinar. The DBA will discuss their programs for downtown businesses and preview next Tuesday’s coffee chat. Click here to register.

Baton Rouge

  • The Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) is hosting an 8(a) Certification Bootcamp on Wednesday, April 19. The 8(a) certification is designed to assist small and disadvantaged businesses gain contracting opportunities with the federal government. Click here to register for the workshop.
  • Next Tuesday, April 25, LCIA is hosting its Coffee Chat with the Downtown Business Association. Attendees will learn about development and potential business opportunities downtown. The event will consist of an informal discussion, networking, and an optional walking tour. Click here to register.

Greater New Orleans:

  • The Manufacturing Extension Partnership of Louisiana (MEPOL) and the New Orleans Chamber are teaming up on Wednesday, April 19 to host a Lunch & Learn for the manufacturing industry, "Transitioning from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015.” Learn more on the New Orleans Chamber’s website.
  • On Thursday, April 20, the Urban League of Louisiana’s Contractor's Resource Center is hosting a construction industry seminar, "Introduction to PlanSwift Software.” For more details and to register, email

North Louisiana

  • The Bossier Chamber of Commerce is hosting the "State of Bossier Address” on Thursday, April 20, at the Hilton Garden Inn. The Mayor of the City of Bossier City and the President of the Bossier Parish Police Jury will present an "annual report” to the citizens of Bossier City/Parish regarding the accomplishments of the past year and an outlook for the year ahead.   • According to Biz. Magazine, Academy Award-winning animation studio Moonbot Studios will keep its headquarters in Shreveport. Studio owner Chris Joyce explains that the local workforce was part of the reason to stay and that he "[was] able to recruit some of the best young talent in America.” Read the article on Biz.
